BACKSTAGE AT THE FASHIONWEEK IN THE HAGUE 2022

Hague Magazine was invited to take a look backstage at all shows during The Fashionweek 2022 in The Hague.

In the weekend of 1 and 2 October, no less than 28 fashion designers and labels closed The Fashionweek 2022 together with fashion shows at various locations in The Hague.

 

Designer Fanny de Ruijter from The Hague kicked things off with an urban couture collection full of prints and handicrafts, after which fashion label Haruco-vert released a sensitive collection inspired by the death of the designer's father. He processed this loss with many laborious craft techniques and depicted it in the collection as 'the moment when day turns into night'.

Inclusive

 

After the inclusive party of Studio HIEM last year, designer Patrick Hiemstra was back this year with a collection with no less than 18 models. The collection was an ode to his mother and the designer chose especially deadstock couture fabrics from Beglarian Fabrics, indicating that he stands firm for sustainable fashion.

 

The war in Ukraine was the inspiration for Nata Ryzh from The Hague. She brought hand-dyed clothing with many colors reminiscent of fire and combined with ribbons with a message.

 

The closing show was for the winner of The Fashionweek Talent Award 2021 Rosalie Boonstra. Her imaginative couture collection came into its own in the classic setting of the shows that took place in different rooms of the 1469 city palace where the shows took place on Saturdays.

 

Fashiontalent

On Sunday, the fashion shows, consisting of a smaller collection, took place in The Student Hotel, just like in previous years. The colorful multidisciplinary collection presentations by Kunstbende finalists Kate Oram and Lauren Thoonen opened the show. Their playfulness and collections full of color and abstract shapes made visitors smile.

 

While Nicole Plender's collection with moving lighting technology mixed fashion with technical ingenuity. The students of ROC Mondriaan were also present again this year. Striking collections were from the twins Abdelaal with their rich glamor dresses and Caspar van Houte with his tough men's collection in which the reuse of fabrics plays a major role.
